Backbone Internet Data Center

Article about:

We keep spare servers on line and ready at a moments notice. Should the server your on ever fail, we simply pull the removable hard drive and place it in the standby server

Backbones news

This keeps you up and running. If there is ever a drive problem, we simply restore the most recent backup onto the new server and down time is minimized. Backups are done every 24 hours and available if ever needed.

We also run our servers with dual redundant power supplies. If one of these power supplies ever fail, the second properly powers the server by itself. Alarms alert our technicians and the failed power supply is replaced with your site never going off-line for even a moment.

In addition, we use top quility Liebert uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) to keep things going should the power ever fail.

We have gone to great lengths to be sure our site and yours never goes down. Your visitors always enjoy a super fast and reliable experience.

Network Redundancy
Backbone Internet uses intelligent end-user routing software called Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) between Qwest, GC and GTE, which use the same protocol. BGP identifies which path is the most efficient for each data packet and then routes the packet to its destination on the fastest path. This increases the speed at which web pages sent from our NOC arrive at their destination.

Studies have shown that the most common reason for downtime is circuit failure on Tier 1 provider backbones, the major data highways. To guard against this potential problem, we have three Tier-1 providers. If one experiences problems, we can route traffic down another one. Furthermore, because we are OnNet with GlobalCenter, Qwest and GTE, we share their digital distribution architecture, which includes private peering network connections to major Internet carriers such as MCI, Sprint, UUNET, EUNET, AT&T, AOL, Best, Erols, @Home, IBM Advantis and others. These private peering arrangements allow Backbone Internet to quickly and efficiently exchange packets of data with every major backbone carrier in a one-to-one environment.
