So much to talk about from the CJU event, but so little time to write it all down. I’m tired from all the great networking so, I’ll try and keep it short and sweet.
midPhase awarded CJ Horizon Award for 2007 - Advertiser Innovation | Day one CJU: The keynote (Greg Smith, COO, Neo@Ogilvy North America) was good but a little old school for me. Too many references to TV and old agency talk. For me, it was not geared enough towards affiliates and there was very little understanding of PPC affiliates.
CJ’s Rebecca Madigan, director of product development, won me over with her talk about how publishers and advertisers can work together better. Highlight of the day. The rest of the day’s sessions were also good and informative. I came away with some interesting ideas on going international and how publishers can diversify.
But a big part of these events are the parties and the formal networking opportunities. Today’s parties were all top notch – very fun. It was a great mix of people and cocktails and a beautiful night for a swanky dinner under the stars.
The dinner “entertainment” was Kevin Joyce, a CJ account director on the publisher development team. His act involved way too much talking and nobody was really listening. He totally dissed Revenue and the Spider for some missteps about CJ’s reorganization announcement in July. But at least the Spider is usually humorous and doesn’t stoop to bad puns or bad magic tricks. Oh well….
